Project description: 

The historic finger wharves at Walsh Bay, NSW have been undergoing constant refurbishment as part of a project to ensure the structural integrity of the wharves while maintaining their original, heritage aesthetics.   

This project involved the removal, retrieval and replacement of the piles using a specialist jack-up system.  Diving Co completed the underwater component of the works, positioning, fastening and assisting in jacking the piles into place.  The project required excellent communication between the pile crew and the dive team in order to achieve its objectives. Diving Co delivered its component of the project efficiently and safety.

Key items:   

dredging of pre-existing pile base to expose sound timber, accurate measurement of required pile replacement length, subsea preparation and cutting of existing pile, sealing and grouting replacement pile base.
