Conduit Proving

The Diving Co has been involved with the locating and proving of ocean conduits for Alcatel and Telstra Australia.

Conduit proving involves firstly locating the exit point of the conduit on the seafloor often the ocean conduit is covered with sand and in some circumstances may have other cables in the immediate area.

The conduit is flushed from the BMH end to remove any hard material that may heave built up in the invert of the drill string or HDPE conduit.

A wire brush is pulled through the drill while being flushed from the BMH this is remove any build up of material along the conduit.

A suitable mandrel to test the internal diameter is pulled through the conduit to prove the diameter, this also proves that the conduit is clear and suitable for the installation of cables from the ocean conduit end.
